Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Summary
The AFDA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the head of the executive and is responsible for ensuring that the overall operations of the AFDA are in line with the Board’s strategic plan. Key tasks for the CEO include managing senior executives and volunteers, liaising with key external stakeholders, reporting on operations to the Board and completing tasks under instruction by the Board.
Tasks
- provide a monthly task list and timesheet to the Board
- liaise with and report to the Board of Directors
- participate in Board meetings and discussions
- support the Board with its business
- identify, appoint and manage staff, contractors and volunteers
- develop and oversee implementation of strategic plan, business plan & risk management plan
- oversee policy development and implementation
- communicate operational decisions to the membership
- liaise with key external stakeholders, in particular WFDF and the ASC
- fulfil duties and responsibilities of any key executive officers when absent
- any other directions or delegations from the Board
Reporting
- the CEO works under the direction of the AFDA Board, in particular the AFDA President
- the manager should expect to provide a monthly task list and timesheet to the Board
Essential criteria
- access to internet, email, web, MS Excel or equivalent/compatible
- able to open and operate a bank account in Australia
- written and oral communication skills
Desirable criteria
- previous experience with top level administration of ultimate at state or national level or another national sporting organisation
Remuneration
- the role has been assessed against the NSW Clerical and Administrative Employees Consolidated (State) Award (135) as a Grade 5 casual position and salary shall exceed that award ($22.76 + $1.90 = $24.66 per hour as of 13 July 2007)
- $30 per hour for all work done on CEO tasks
- $25 per hour for all work done on other tasks, that are part of another executive officer’s job description and/or could have been completed by a less senior executive officer or volunteer
- 9% superannuation on top of salary
- casual – no holiday or sick leave
- nominally 5 hours per week, but this is to be managed in consultation with the AFDA Board.
- pay is by calendar month, upon submission of timesheets
Performance review
The AFDA CEO will undertake performance review with the AFDA Board on a six-monthly basis
An exit review will be conducted by the AFDA Board and a reference provided if appropriate.
